Caradigm Announces Strong Adoption of Company’s Identity and Access Management Solutions for Healthcare
BELLEVUE, Wash., July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Caradigm™ a Microsoft Corp. and GE Healthcare company, today announced continued strong growth within its install base of identity and access management (IAM) solutions for healthcare, with a record increase of nearly 50 percent in the number of active end users in the past 18 months. More than 858,000 healthcare professionals are using Caradigm's IAM portfolio, including Vergence, expreSSO and Way2Care, which is designed to make it easy for clinicians to rapidly and securely access patient data stored in multiple clinical applications.
Caradigm also announced that Vergence and expreSSO are the most broadly adopted single sign-on solutions in the U.S. acute market, according to data from the HIMSS Analytics® Database*. The company believes that strong growth for Vergence, spanning existing customers and new accounts, is based on demand for a solution that integrates single sign-on, context management and passive proximity authentication capabilities, facilitating deployment and support across health organizations.
"After evaluating several single sign-on products, we chose Vergence because we needed a comprehensive single-vendor solution for both single sign-on and patient context management," said George Carr, chief information officer for BryanLGH, a not-for-profit and locally owned health system in Lincoln, Neb. "Vergence helps streamline our physicians' workflow by enabling them to quickly access five core clinical applications and to minimize the steps needed to find the right patient information when moving from application to application."
BryanLGH further simplifies and accelerates access to patient information with Way2Care, a passive proximity authentication solution that allows physicians to simply tap a card to sign on and off workstations and authorize certain actions, such as ordering medications.
Caradigm IAM solutions are used in more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide including the top three for-profit hospital companies in the United States, nine children's hospitals and more than 160 hospitals serving U.S. services veterans.
"Sentillion pioneered the IAM market in healthcare by delivering innovative and practical solutions that make it easier for doctors and nurses to perform their jobs every day," said Jim Campbell, vice president of IAM, Caradigm. "We're focused on building on that legacy and continually extending the power of the IAM portfolio to meet the evolving needs of health systems."
Vergence, expreSSO and Way2Care were acquired by Microsoft from Sentillion in 2010 and transitioned to Caradigm upon the company's formation in June 2012.
Formed by GE Healthcare and Microsoft Corp. in June 2012, Caradigm is a 50-50 joint venture focused on enabling health systems and payers to drive continuous improvements in care.
